About
Barracks to Boardroom CIC
Our Mission & Story
Our Mission
Barracks to Boardroom CIC exists to make sure no one feels left behind after service. We help members of the Armed Forces community use the skills, discipline and resilience they already have to build meaningful futures in business and civilian work.
Our Story
From service life to civilian boardrooms
Barracks to Boardroom CIC was founded by Anthony McDermott, an armed forces veteran who experienced first-hand how challenging the transition from service to civilian life can be. Moving from a tight-knit unit, clear structure and strong sense of purpose into the civilian world can feel overwhelming – even when you’re highly capable.
After navigating that journey and working with businesses within a consultancy role and within senior positions, Anthony saw both the incredible potential of the Armed Forces community and the gap in understanding on the employer side.
Barracks to Boardroom CIC was created to close that gap.
Our Values
What we stand for
Service:
putting people and community at the heart of what we do
Integrity:
doing the right thing, even when no one is watching
Action:
moving from ideas to practical steps and real outcomes

making sure no one has to transition alone
Why a CIC?
A business with a social purpose
As a Community Interest Company, our focus is impact, not profit. Any surplus we generate is reinvested into supporting the Armed Forces community – funding places on our programmes and widening access to our services.
